Safety
Safety and Compliance
At Skyline Aviation, safety is at the core of our operational philosophy. It informs every mission, procedure, and decision we make. We operate to robust, well-established systems that form our CAA-accepted Safety Management System (SMS)
All operations are completed under the following Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand issued certificates:
- Airline Air Operator Certificate (Parts 119, 125, and 135), authorising 24/7 domestic and international operations using medium and small aircraft for passengers and goods across jet and turboprop platforms.
- Maintenance Organisation Certificate (Part 145), with ratings for aircraft (A1, A2, A3, A4), Engine & Propeller (C1) and Components (C2) for all aircraft types we operate.
In addition to meeting CAA regulatory requirements, Skyline Aviation was also the first provider in New Zealand to achieve full accreditation to all relevant national air ambulance and air search and rescue standards. We continue to maintain independent certification to a range of internationally recognised standards. These ISO and NZS certifications, issued by JAS-ANZ accredited certification bodies, reflect our commitment to international best practice. Our certifications include:
- ISO 9001 – Quality Management Systems.
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems.
- ISO 45001 – Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
- NZS 8156 – Ambulance and Paramedical Services.
- New Zealand Air Ambulance Search and Rescue Standard.
Our internal Quality and Safety team provides oversight of the integrated SMS and remains committed to the highest standards of flight safety, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability—across every mission we undertake. Our enduring commitment to aviation safety has been formally recognised, including as a past recipient of the Civil Aviation Director’s Award.
Flight Training
Skyline Aviation maintains a Civil Aviation Authority-approved check and training framework under our Part 119 Airline Operator Certificate, enabling in-house delivery of comprehensive training and examining functions. Our programme is overseen by a dedicated Check and Training Manager who is supported by a team of highly experienced internal team of operational instructors and flight examiners. Our robust internal training structure enables us to ensure standardisation, operational readiness, and continuous improvement across all flight operations. It also provides us the flexibility to rapidly deliver high-quality training outcomes in line with the evolving demands of aeromedical, charter, and time-critical air transport missions.
Training delivery includes both in-aircraft and simulator-based instruction, as well as theoretical and scenario-based learning using modern training aids.
Our current capabilities include:
- P135 Initial, Recurrent, Transition Training.
- P125 Initial, Recurrent, Transition and Upgrade Training.
- A CAA-approved B300 Type Rating Course.
- Internal C90, B200 and C510 type rating courses.
- Instrument Rating Competency Assessments (Additional Aid, Multi-Engine and Continued Competency).
- Operational Competency Assessments.
Skyline maintains access to Cat D full-flight simulators through established training partnerships with global leaders in flight training. We also operate an in-house King Air synthetic flight training device, located at our Napier base, used as a valuable tool for procedural, systems, and scenario-based training.
All flight crew training is planned, recorded, and monitored through Ideagen Q-Pulse software, ensuring full traceability and ongoing compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
